NEWS IN BRIEF
In honor of National Romance month, a new survey reveals 54 percent of Americans say they believe in one true love, one specific person meant for each person.
According to the survey of 1,000 Americans, 55 percent of women and 52 percent of men believe in one true love. While 59 percent believe romance is essential to a relationship, 45 percent admit to just being a little romantic or not romantic at all.
Forty-six percent acknowledge they wish their spouse or partner were more romantic.
Nearly half of Americans say they believe in love at first sight. Sixty-one percent say just being in love with their spouse or partner inspires them to be romantic. In fact, 37 percent say they compliment their spouse or partner multiple times per week, and 28 percent say something nice every day.
But while 42 percent believe romance should be expected in a relationship, sadly 19 percent believe romance is dead in today’s culture. Another 19 percent think social media impedes romance, and 13 percent say romance only exists in movies, books and on television.
