NIB: National Tooth Fairy Day

NEWS IN BRIEF

In honor of National Tooth Fairy Day, a new survey reveals what Americans really think about the tooth fairy, and how many used to believe in this character more when they were children compared to their own.

According to the survey of 1,000 Americans, 80 percent say they believed in the tooth fairy as a child, but only 77 percent say their children currently believe or used to believe in the tooth fairy.

Sixty-four percent say they received on average between $1 and $5 per tooth when they were children, which is on par with the amount they give their own children.

The survey also reveals that 75 percent of Americans think it’s healthy for children to believe in characters such as Santa Claus, Easter Bunny, the Tooth Fairy and Cupid. Seventy percent think Santa Claus is the most believable character, while 47 percent think Cupid is the least believable.
