Ever feel there are not enough hours in the day? The average woman feels she needs an extra 82 minutes a day to accomplish everything she would like, according to new research.

A new survey delving into the routines and schedules of 2,000 American women (aged 18 and older) pinpointed the hectic juggling act many women face in managing work, chaperoning their children and running errands, on top of seeing friends and other life admin tasks.

The survey, conducted by OnePoll on behalf of Garnier Fructis, profiled the average woman’s schedule and found many women feel slightly overwhelmed by their weekly commitments – as many as 55 percent feel they are currently too busy week after week and mornings are by far the busiest part of their day.

If they had extra time in their day, 49 percent would use it to sleep, while others would read (36 percent) or exercise (29 percent).

Twenty-two percent of women would use their extra time to learn a new hobby. Women report wanting to learn how to knit, write poetry and learn photography.

Women are so busy that half of respondents have given up a hobby, simply because they didn’t have the time for it.

One in three (31 percent) of the women polled felt they routinely manage less than 30 minutes of “me time” per day.

This may be why a quarter of women would be willing to give up caffeine in exchange for extra time at home.

One in 10 (11 percent) are so busy they’d even be willing to give up their significant other in order have a bit of extra time in which to get ready for their day.

And more than a third of women (38 percent) haven’t taken a single afternoon to themselves in over a month.

“As a hairstylist, I hear countless women tell me they wish they could cut down on the time spent doing their own hair. They all wish they could get more time back for themselves,” said Garnier Consulting Celebrity Hair Stylist Ashley Streicher.

Seventy percent of respondents report feeling rushed when getting ready.

From forgetting something at home, eating breakfast during their commute and leaving the house late, women report having 19 days in a typical month where things don’t go as planned.

“Understanding that women need more time back in their day and that blowouts are time consuming, Garnier Fructis has developed a time-saving product you mix into shampoo,” Streicher continued.

“The new Sleek Shot in-shower styler is becoming a total lifesaver for my clients with hectic lives, because it jumpstarts their blow dry routine and cuts sleeking time in half. And they’re obsessed – by adding it to their shower routine, they’re tossing out their flatirons and finding that their perfect sleek hair no longer requires tons of extra time, steps or products to achieve a super-polished look.”

Women estimated their entire morning routine takes 55 minutes and 39 percent report their busiest time of day is in the morning.

Spending less time on their morning routine would allow women to cross off some of the things on their to-do list. Reasons women say they aren’t able to accomplish everything in their day include having too much to do (42 percent) and not having time to themselves (33 percent).
