Despite the complications, stresses and distractions of modern life, a majority of Americans feel their sex life is in good shape, according to new research.
A poll of 2,000 sexually active Americans saw as many as 92 percent say they feel at least satisfied overall with the quality of their sex lives.
In fact, when asked to honestly assess their current love life, over half (57 percent) reported feeling VERY satisfied with their time between the sheets.
The study conducted by OnePoll in conjunction with PinkCherry examined the sexual pleasure habits and behaviors of 2,000 Americans and found that a surprisingly high number of the Americans studied are seemingly content in the bedroom.
Although 62 percent agree the orgasm gap exists (meaning that women generally have fewer orgasms than men), the results may suggest Americans are getting better at speaking up and making sure they are satisfied in the bedroom.
Sixty-eight percent of those studied revealed they have guided or spoken to their partner in an effort to maximize their satisfaction during sex.
But how exactly are people increasing pleasure during sex? The study showed that the number one way Americans are boosting sexual pleasure is by telling their partner how to please them.
Seventy-four percent of those surveyed admitted that being vocal to their partner about how to please them was their way to increase their pleasure during sex.
Another 65 percent are happy guiding their partner to help them reach orgasm while a further 60 percent are unafraid to give their partner feedback if it means increasing their sexual satisfaction between the sheets.
But that isn’t all that Americans will do to better their sex lives. Nearly half (47 percent) have used sex toys to maximize their sexual pleasure in bed.
“83% of surveyed females responded that receiving clitoral stimulation helps them reach orgasm. Ladies who are comfortable telling their partners what they like, and those who enjoy pleasing themselves / masturbating will definitely benefit from adding to their sex routine a sex toy that buzzes, pulses, tingles or even licks or sucks (in a good way). This may help us close the so called “orgasm gap” and eliminate bad sex,” explained Daniel Freedman, CEO at the online sex toy store PinkCherry.com.
With Americans being unashamed of going after better sexual pleasure, bad sex isn’t something they are willing to endure.
Of those studied, three quarters have had bad sex –– and they don’t want to experience it again.
In fact, 24 percent of those surveyed would rather stand in line at the DMV than endure bad sex.
Bad sex can be a deal-breaker for many people. Americans are quick to break things off with someone when the sexual chemistry doesn’t satisfy them. In fact, 37 percent have broken things off with someone because of sex that wasn’t all that pleasurable.
When do people know that it’s time to call it quits after a lackluster romp? Turns out, one in six will break things off after no more than two bad sexual encounters with someone.
Bad sex is something Americans would like to avoid at all costs. Forty-two percent of those studied reveal they’d rather not have sex at all than tolerate terrible sex.
And a third of those surveyed admit they’d rather masturbate than have to deal with bad sex.
“It’s great to know that most Americans aren’t hesitant to use sex toys to pursue greater satisfaction in bed. At PinkCherry, we absolutely believe that sexual pleasure is natural,” stated Mr. Freedman.
